Back in time: Retro bowling

Some people spend nights in bars, we decided to rather do some physical activity. In order to not to overstrain it, we choose bowling. Actually the girls came up with this idea. They got recommendation for one great bowling place by their new Taiwanese friend. Who they met in bar…

We took our motorbikes and set off to mad drive to night Kaohsiung. After we arrived, the place looked pretty good (map). We found the place easily as we were welcomed be huge neon light bowling skittle.

On our way to stairs to the second floor where was the bowling located, we realized that this experience will be a little extraordinary. We stepped through the time travel gate and found ourselves somewhere in the 80s.

We put on retro shoes, distributed ourselves among three bowling tracks and started playing. The first game went well, we even had some strikes. But it turned out there are some performance differences among players in each team. So for the second game we took the two best players from each team to form a new elite team, two average players to form average team and the ones with lower scores formed a team with different focus. Me and Jan were lucky enough to become a part of the elite team.

We took the second game much more serious. I started with a perfect shoot. Unfortunately I forgot to tell the bowling ball that it should smash the skittles at the end of the truck. Later I managed to miss them from both left and right side few more times. And I wasn’t the only one. Elite team my ass…

The only one who wasn’t failing horribly was Rasmus. On the other hand, he was wearing his own bowling shoes instead of the retro ones we borrowed. So it does not count actually. Well, also Jan finished the game with double strike which helped his score a lot.

After returning to the 21. century, we realized we are pretty hungry (30 years without any food, you know…). I set off back to campus with Lukas and Jan to find some place to eat on our way back. After spending whole evening with sport activity, we decided to have some healthy dinner. Well, McDonalds was the only place open at that time, so later we met there all the other guys we were playing with.
